Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains what data DateSim collects, why we collect it, and how we protect it. Please read it carefully before using the app.
1. Who We Are
DateSim ("we", "our", or "us") operates the DateSim mobile application available on iOS and Android (the "App"). Our contact for privacy matters is listed in the Support section of this policy.
The App is an AI-powered dating confidence training platform. By using the App you agree to the data practices described in this Privacy Policy.
2. Information We Collect
We collect information in the following ways:
- Account Information: When you register, we collect your name, email address, and authentication credentials. You may also sign in via third-party OAuth providers (e.g. Google, Apple Sign-In).
- Profile Data: Information you provide about yourself during onboarding, such as your dating goals, age range preferences, and confidence level.
- Practice Session Data: Transcripts and recordings of voice and text conversations you have with AI avatars during practice sessions. This data is used to provide real-time coaching and calculate your DateSim Score.
- Voice & Audio: When you use voice mode, we temporarily process your audio input via your device's microphone. Audio is processed to generate a text transcript and is not stored indefinitely after a session ends unless needed for analytics.
- Usage & Activity Data: Session history, missions completed, streaks, XP earned, leaderboard rankings, and app interactions.
- Device & Technical Data: Device type, operating system, app version, IP address, and crash reports. We may use analytics tools (such as Expo/React Native telemetry) to monitor App stability.
- Subscription & Payment Data: Your subscription plan and status. Payment processing is handled entirely by Apple App Store or Google Play Store. We do not store your credit card or payment information. We use RevenueCat to manage subscription entitlements.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide and operate the DateSim service, including AI coaching, missions, and the Social Mastery program.
- Personalise your experience and track your progress over time.
- Generate your DateSim Score and provide feedback.
- Process and manage your subscription via RevenueCat.
- Send important service notifications (e.g. billing updates, account security).
- Improve our AI models, features, and overall product quality using aggregated, de-identified data.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your data for third-party advertising.
4. AI Processing & Third-Party Services
DateSim relies on third-party AI and infrastructure providers to deliver its features. When you use the App, your conversation data may be processed by these services:
- AI Language Models: Text and voice transcripts from your practice sessions are sent to AI model providers (such as OpenAI or equivalent) to generate coaching responses. These providers process your data under their own privacy policies and data processing agreements with us.
- RevenueCat: Used to manage subscription entitlements and webhooks. RevenueCat receives anonymised purchase receipts and subscription status.
- Cloud Infrastructure: Our servers are hosted on cloud providers. All data in transit is encrypted using TLS/HTTPS.
We only share data with third parties to the extent necessary to provide the service, and we ensure such third parties maintain appropriate data protection standards.
5. Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with the service. Specifically:
- Account data is retained until you delete your account.
- Session transcripts are retained for a period of 12 months to enable progress tracking and session history, after which they are deleted or anonymised.
- Voice audio is processed in real time and is not stored beyond the end of a session.
- Aggregated analytics data may be retained indefinitely in anonymised form.
You may request deletion of your data at any time — see Section 8 below.
6. Data Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data against unauthorised access, loss, or disclosure. These include:
- Encryption of all data in transit via HTTPS/TLS.
- Secure, authenticated API access with token-based authentication.
- Regular security reviews of our infrastructure.
- Access controls limiting employee access to personal data on a need-to-know basis.
No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at privacy@datesim.app.
7. Children's Privacy
DateSim is not intended for users under the age of 17. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 17. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child without parental consent, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us.
8. Your Rights & Choices
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction: Request that we correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Deletion: Request that we delete your personal data and account. You can also delete your account directly within the App settings.
- Portability: Request a machine-readable export of your data.
- Objection / Restriction: Object to or request restriction of certain processing activities.
- Withdraw Consent: Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.

9. Microphone Permission
DateSim requests access to your device's microphone to enable voice practice sessions. This permission is used solely to capture your voice during active practice conversations. You can revoke microphone access at any time in your device's system settings. Revoking access will disable voice mode but will not affect text-based features.
10. Cookies & Tracking
The mobile App does not use browser cookies. We may use device identifiers and analytics SDKs to understand aggregate usage patterns and improve the product. These tools do not track you across other apps or websites.
11. International Data Transfers
Your data may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own, including the United States, where our servers and third-party providers may be located. We ensure that such transfers comply with applicable data protection laws and that appropriate safeguards are in place.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you via the App or by email. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects when the policy was last revised. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
